Biography: Colm Desmond (born in Cork) obtained a BA in Fine Art (hons, 2004) from Dun Laoghaire Institute of Art, Design & Technology (IADT) and an MA, Art in the Contemporary World (hons, 2008), at the National College of Art and Design, Dublin in September 2008. He also holds qualifications in economics, politics and public administration. He lives and works in Dublin. Colm Desmond exhibited 3D vitrines under the title in/elegant formalism at the Basement Project Space, Cork in March 2010, and at Pallas Contemporary Projects, Dublin 7 in July 2009. He exhibited photographic works at The Front Lounge, Dublin 2 in March 2009 and held a joint exhibition with Anne-Marie Hayes at Broadstone XL Space, Dublin 1 (September 2008) as part of the MA ACW. Recent group exhibitions included COE 09 Claremorris Open Exhibition, Co. Mayo (Sept. 2009), Eigse, Carlow (June 2008), Iontas Small Works, Sligo (July-August 2007) and a group show with MA students at this is not a shop, Benburb St. Dublin 7 (March 2007). Previous group exhibitions include Iontas 2005, ev+a 2005 Limerick City Gallery of Art, and C2: 1995-2005 at the Crawford Municipal Art Gallery, Cork (Dec.2004/Jan.2005). He has participated in several similar open submission exhibitions since the early 1990’s and held a solo exhibition of paintings at Lambay Gallery, Howth, Co. Dublin in May 1999. His photographic work is in the IADT and OPW (State Art) collections. |
